Your lifestyle is now your testimony
Alice Cooper · Rock musician, "The Godfather of Shock Rock"
Alice Cooper, born Vincent Furnier, grew up with a pastor father and evangelist grandfather, but ran as far from that upbringing as his shock-rock career could take him, into years of severe alcohol and drug addiction. He has described a breaking point where he looked in the mirror and believed he saw blood coming out of his own eyes, convinced he was going to die. After his wife threatened to leave, he flushed his drugs away, slept for three days, and returned to the faith of his childhood. He asked his pastor how a rock star could follow Christ, and was told: "Your lifestyle is now your testimony." Cooper has continued performing ever since, describing Christianity simply as a one-on-one relationship with Jesus.
