When Your Mind Won't Be Still

October 7, 2026

Sometimes the hardest battle is the one happening quietly inside your mind. You may lie awake thinking about tomorrow, replaying yesterday, worrying about someone you love, or wondering how everything will work out. The more you think, the more difficult it becomes to find peace. You may ask, “How can I have peace when my circumstances haven't changed?” The Bible gives us a different place to take our worries—not deeper into our minds, but into God's hands. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7 God does not ask you to carry every worry by yourself. You can tell Him what is frightening you. You can bring Him the questions you cannot answer and the situations you cannot control. Prayer does not always immediately change the circumstances around us. Sometimes, it begins by changing what is happening within us. When anxiety tells you that everything depends on you, faith reminds you that God is with you. When your mind keeps asking, “What if?”, you can pause and remember, “God is here.” You do not need to solve tomorrow tonight. Take today to God. Breathe. Pray. Rest. Trust Him with what you cannot control. Prayer: Lord, my mind is often filled with thoughts and worries that I cannot seem to quiet. Help me bring them to You instead of carrying them alone. Give me peace when I am anxious, wisdom when I am uncertain, and strength when I feel overwhelmed. Help me trust that You care for me even when I cannot see how everything will work out. Amen. Today's thought: You don't have to know how everything will work out to know that God is with you while it does. Related Scriptures: Philippians 4:6–7, Psalm 55:22, John 14:27, Isaiah 41:10
